National Online Skills Enhancement Programme for Surgical Trainees (NSEP – PGs)

Dear Friends

We have great pleasure introducing ASI’s National online Skills Enhancement Programme (NSEP – PGs), which is a one of its kind web based initiative that aims to ensure that surgical trainees learn the ABC’s of basic procedures, which are often not formally taught neither in the regular teaching sessions nor at major conferences.

This landmark online ASI’s e- learning initiative for trainees starting in June ushers in a new era in ASI’s teaching schedule, which also seamlessly transitions to our flagship Online Regional Refresher Courses (RRCs) from August 2020.

Starting from 10th June until 5th August 2020, nine such online Programmes would be conducted – once a week – every Wednesday between 9 – 10 pm. Details of topics & faculty to be covered are enclosed below.

NSEP(PGs) – Schedule

Faculty will deliver a brief introduction & present a short crisp video relating to the assigned basic procedure through a robust & safe online platform, which would be followed by an interactive discussion.

A unique ID & password will be sent in due course, which is essential to participate in the Online Programme.

Currently, there are 2877 postgraduate seats for MS (General Surgery) and 391 National Board of Examinations–accredited DNB seats (General Surgery). At any given time in India, there are over 3000 surgical trainees added to the system every year. They are indeed, well & truly, the future of ASI. And therefore, enhancing their knowledge base and improving their skills is of paramount importance. This has been the core of ASI’s VISION 2020.

We request you to please spread the word around & encourage postgraduates & junior Colleagues in your Institute/region to actively participate in this landmark ASI initiative.

Kind regards.

Sincerely Yours,

Dr. P. Raghu Ram
