Healthy Surgeon Healthy Nation
Dear Esteemed Member
Warm greetings from the Association of Surgeons of India!
It gives us immense pride and pleasure to announce a landmark initiative under the present leadership of ASI for the years 2026–2027 of the Mission ASI – “Healthy Surgeon: Healthy Nation”
This visionary mission underscores a fundamental truth—the well-being of surgeons is integral to the health of the nation. ASI envisions fostering a culture where surgeon wellness is recognized not as a luxury, but as a critical determinant of patient safety, surgical excellence, and national health outcomes.
To drive this mission forward, a National Wellness Task Force has been constituted, comprising:
State Chapter Wellness Coordinators – Hon. Secretary, President (Chairman) of State Chapters and National EC Members of the state
City Branch Wellness Coordinators – President and Secretary of ASI City Branches
It is well established that surgeons face disproportionately high levels of: Burnout and mental fatigue, Musculoskeletal disorders, Sleep deprivation, Metabolic illnesses and psychological stress.
A healthy surgeon is a safer surgeon—capable of sharper clinical judgment, fewer errors, improved patient outcomes, and a longer, more fulfilling professional life. Investing in surgeon health is, therefore, a powerful and indirect public health intervention.
