The ASI, as in the previous years is about to start the Clinical Teaching Programme for the postgraduate students in Surgery for the year 2026 – ASI TYSA 2026. This is the academic flagship programme of the Association of Surgeons of India and will be conducted in FOUR stages (Rounds)

The students in training for MS & DNB in India are grouped into 4 geographic zones.

The first round will be an “ONLINE MCQ” test will be conducted from 1st to 21st May 2026.

The toppers from each of these zones will go to the second round – again an online round and will be based on "investigations" (Biochemistry, Hematology, Radiology) “Instruments & Equipment”. Schedule for this round will be published shortly. The online programme will be made available for all residents through Facebook / YouTube channels of ASI at NO cost.

The toppers from each of these zones will go to the Third round – “The Regional Refresher Courses” (RRC). RRCs are conducted for each of the zones physically where nearly 450 students and 60 faculty from the same zone meet and will be engaged in a mock clinical examination in the lines of MS/DNB exit examination. Each of the toppers gets a unique opportunity to answer four or five potential examiners and gain a lot of confidence in making a clinical case presentation. The registered student delegates in the RRCs get the rare chance to hear the pattern of questions from these teachers in the same zone and the answers expected from a candidate. All the toppers will have a certificate of honour having been selected to the zonal level of competition.

The three toppers from each of the zones in the RRCs will have a similar competitive assessment at the fourth & final round of ASI TYSA 2026 which will be held along with ASICON 2026 at Ahmedabad during December 2026. The winners will get certificates, mementos and huge cash awards.

First Prize ——–3 Lakh (Rs 3,00,000/-)
Second Prize—–2 Lakh (Rs 2,00,000/-)
Third Prize——–Rs 50,000/- (Fifty Thousand Only) — Two prizes
All the finalists except the winners will get Rs 25,000/- (Twenty Five Thousand Only)

SOME of the finalists MAY also get a chance for fully / partially funded travel facility and opportunity to gain surgical training from centres of Excellence at different parts of the world. This facility will depend on the funding pattern & policy of the various countries with which ASI has professional relationship.

The target resident group this year is 2024 & 2025 MS/DNB admissions.

Zone – 2 – Assam, Manipur, Tripura, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Nagaland, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, Chhattisgarh & Odisha

Zone – 3 – Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Punjab, Rajasthan and Jammu & Kashmir

Zone – 4 – Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat & Goa

All residents in General Surgery admitted in 2024 & 2025 are encouraged to write the MCQ tests from 1st to 21st May 2026. No prior registration is needed. Details of the examination will soon be sent to all.
